Thinking “Outside the Box” for Weddings
By Stacy Hankinson
Creating a wedding that has everyone talking is a feat in itself. Creating a wedding that is truly enjoyable and memorable for all your guests is a challenge but not as difficult as you may think.
Many brides and wedding planners are moving away from the traditional wedding in the arena of entertainment especially for their receptions. More and more are booking entertainment such as classic arcade games or even racing simulators. With weddings being a family oriented gathering, this type of entertainment involves all ages; young and old. “We have a bride booking all sports related games for her reception in Indiana this October” said Don Hankinson, COO of Phoenix Amusements (located in Atlanta, GA). He added, “The will still have a band for music, but wanted to get everyone interacting with our games. She’s booking pool tables, Hydro Thunder Speedboat Racing, electronic darts and all our upright sports related video games.” Even though this is not the typical wedding, other customers want more control over the music played, so pre-programmed juke boxes are a big request for wedding receptions. You can even burn your own CD and add it to the juke box. And most of the jukeboxes have their own PA system, so you even can use them for announcements. The sound is exceptional on the Nostalgic Jukebox so there is no need for additional speakers according to Mr. Hankinson.

Another big trend is personalized wedding favors made out of chocolate! In the past chocolate was hand made and too expensive for most, but with new technology this favorite sweet is within reach for the masses. American Chocolate Company’s founder and president, Stacy Hankinson, explained this breakthrough. “We can take your photo even two separate ones and create one photo with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date. We then print with 100% FDA approved food coloring with our patented industrial food printer directly on to the gourmet chocolates”. We’re talking full chocolate portraits, surrounded by Belgium truffles, party favors with pictures on them, place cards for weddings in total chocolate, the list goes on and on. She said, “We only use top quality chocolate, so you’re not only getting a great looking product, it is also quite delicious. Kosher products are also available upon request.”
American Chocolate Company had a recent showing of their chocolate line at The Weddings of Georgia Bridal Show in Tyrone. Stacy says “People were amazed at the clarity of the print, especially the photos. Stacy also says, “Our customer’s image is as important as ours. Therefore, we treat each order as if we are creating our own; we know the magnitude of how our product can represent each customer.”
Trends come and go, but engaging your guests and surprising them with new exciting favors will always be a “traditional” wedding in everyone’s book.
